I enjoyed this a great deal. I decided to just keep going, not worrying too much about the order except for a few, while I wait for my holds to come in. Next up is Brothers in Arms.

So I had to go out of order (sorry purists) but I put holds on the next few and listened to Cetaganda today. I listened uninterrupted my entire shift which means I really liked it and I’m almost done!

I really just love the character-focused writing and it deeply resonates with me creatively.

Jetpacks are the same thing, by the way. Imagine all the issues with drones but also every weekend warrior is also strapped into it. Even if it was technologically possible, it would be a logistical nightmare and they’d certainly not be legal for civilian use.

I guess they wish that flight had the same infrastructure and alleged ease of entry as cars, but that’s a feasibility, not technological, problem. And I suspect if we had built our society around flight as we have cars, we’d regret that, too.

people bemoaning that flying cars don’t exist is confusing because passenger planes do actually exist. you can take flying lessons even if you can’t afford to own a plane.

every social situation I’ve ever been in my entire life has been like playing a board game for the first time and I’m not allowed to read the rulebook. Sometimes I can figure it out enough to play, sometimes I can just watch, sometimes I just copy someone else, and sometimes I flip the board over.

Don't say "just be confident and it's fine" because you know and I know that we've both been in situations where someone doesn't realize they're annoying everyone. How am I supposed to know if that's me or not? How am I supposed to know anything?

I really don't know that I'll ever get over the hurdle of: you have to know you're not being annoying to not annoying people, and if you ask if you are, that's annoying. if you say "this is probably annoying," that's annoying. if you don't know and you guess wrong, that's annoying.

The actor's name is actually "Rupert Friend." It's not a "Friend of Dorothy" thing for teddy bear people, that's a common misconception.

Every October, our group picks out movies to watch, you can pick a night and show whatever you like. He had already picked some before he passed, so tomorrow night we're watching his choices. I think it's a fitting tribute.

I found out today an online friend of mine passed away unexpectedly. It's sad and sobering and I miss him. He was very kind and positive and always good company. He was also very normal and respectful about my transition which was really nice.
