I know it's not in vogue to still be enjoying Harry Potter, but those are always sort of non-horror fantasy that I enjoy around this time of year. Same with LOTRs. (I have come to have affection for the OG Potter cast that grew into such great human beings, unlike the creator of the series.)

Religious folks often ask how to have morality without religion. Here's the secret: you don't. Morality is for the religious. Ethics is for the human being. Immoral behavior is often excusable, and within a religion actually forgivable. Unethical behavior just straight up means you're a bad person.

You know, you never realize you have an aesthetic and then one day you do, and mine is hot coffee in a hovering rattan chair in a spaceship. If I happen to be a cute Oni alien girl in some sort of big can't bikini with green hair, then I will accept the role the universe thrust upon me with gusto.

Well, on Mastadon it is whoever runs the server, and in that case it could just be you, or your organization. Not a company, corporation, or controlling entity outside of yourself.

That people have dug in on level 1 of technology and refuse additional levels that grant them more freedoms... 🧐

Always loved this crazy old style building from the 60s on my drive to work. Round buildings aren't easy upkeep, though, and the old concrete fencing walls are date and out of style. I loved this whole thing. Demolished in the past week, sadly. R
