Got into a discussion this weekend on my preference for The Batman over The Dark Knight. Think it’s one of my more unpopular movie and nerd takes. My main reasoning is that TDK is pro-capitalist, pro-police, pro-status quo whereas TB is a criticism of all three of those things.
Watched Predator (1987) in full for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the commentary on toxic masculinity and US military aggression. Every violent overreactive man dies. By the end, you’re rooting for an outgunned guerrilla fighter in a jungle against an ugly foreign aggressor

The Trachtenberg trilogy of Predator movies has absolutely made me a fan of the franchise moving forward. I didn’t have strong feelings on it before, but three hits in a row that are both fun to watch and lore enriching? I’m in. Psyched that Badlands performed well this weekend. I want more

Mamdani’s win is a warning for media:
Better get some leftist contributors or you simply won’t be able to cover/understand what is happening around America.

Spent election night with friends, not looking at the early returns. So many results take so long and skew towards early voters that I’m generally off watching minute to minute coverage of it the night of. Catching up this morning and I gotta say—much calmer way to consume all this news!

Kinda bizarre that George W Bush’s “fool me twice” and Steve Carrell’s “how the turn tables” have been around long enough that for many people, those are just how those phrases go now

5 Lakers with at least 13 points in the third quarter. No Luka, no LeBron, but they’re battling. Reaves has 14 assists with only one turnover. Huge

I know it’s the smart play to IBB Ohtani in these clutch spots but I, a viewer with no rooting interest other than to see a good game and cool shit, want to see him get a chance to win this

Certainly feels like the 40-point game is the new 30-point game. Feels especially wild seeing these numbers after getting accustomed to WNBA scoring output over the summer (shorter game, more physical defense)
