After this interview, I lament disappearing bonus features and creator commentaries on #physicalmedia, and talk about a surprise second commentary track on the dvd for THE DEVICE.

Listed as commentary by Tracy Torme, it's really a 90min interview with him about alien abduction and FIRE IN THE SKY.
Slice of SciFi 1148: Beast of War

Writer-director Kiah Roache-Turner latest #horror #thriller is a World War II shark movie, with said beast intent on making marooned at Australian soldiers next on the menu.

Writer-director Kiah Roache-Turner talks about Beast of War, and since he’s always wanted to make a shark movie, he went with one in a historical World War II setting.

You'd be pleasantly surprised to learn that song pops up on the SiriusXM 90s channel at least couple times a month 🤣

And yes, HORROR'S NEW WAVE is a lovely book. I have a soft spot for books about movies or making movies, sometimes even getting those official script books.

Humans rule! 🤣

The human factor intervened and confirmed that what I posted was indeed an interview with Philip, and not an infringing copy of the audiobook for his new book.

This episode should be restored to the Spotify feed within 48 hours, they tell me.
For those subscribed thru #Spotify, bear with me.

Just got a copyright claim, because they think this interview with Philip is actually the audiobook. Um... what?

I include book titles in most of my interviews, and never before been flagged as being an audiobook. Someone's AI filters are broken.

Something weird is going on with Live TV on Prime Video.

Watching on TV via Roku, after an hour shows will slowly fall out of sync, with video falling 3-5 seconds behind the audio.

Doesn't happen with live programming via MLB Network and Vix Premium subscriptions. Doesn't happen on iPad.

Why?

Well, looks like @kinolorber.com is having a $4.99 sale through October 20.

Looks like I have some catalog browsing to do 🤣

Huh. @darkhorse.com does puzzles. There's a brand new two-sided THE LAST OF US PART II puzzle.

I can't recall seeing a two-sided puzzle before, but looks kinda cool. It's 20x27, 1000 pieces, with Ellie and her guitar in a quiet moment on one side, and an armed Ellie ready to fight on the other.

I've already pre-ordered the new 4K restoration of HARD BOILED (coming in November), but imagine my surprise to find out there's a special screening of the restored edition during the Charlotte Film Festival this week!

Farewell to a man who epitomizes the word “legend.”

I could gush all day about my favorite of his films (SNEAKERS, THE HOT ROCK, SPY GAME, THE STING), but better tribute is to acknowledge that the entire landscape of modern film would be vastly different were it not for Robert Redford.

RIP

"The masses will remember Robert Redford jumping off that cliff with Paul Newman, but it’s the work in Park City that may have had the greatest effect."

My favorite Robert Redford acting trick is that he would clip off the end of a line the audience already knew the end of, pause as if thinking, then start the next line as if he was interrupting himself. It's why his acting feels so naturalistic. He feels improvised while not shitting on the script.
