Coming out is mostly a formality that exists for straight people who assume being straight is the default. Queer people don’t need to ‘announce’ their identity for it to be valid—just existing as themselves is enough.

Can we finally learn the lesson of not commenting on people’s appearance?? Michelle Trachtenberg was going through a liver transplant and people were leaving her horrible comments about her appearance and claiming she was on drugs. Now she’s no longer with us.

While we’re having mental health conversations, let’s stop using lobotomies as quirky little jokes. Lobotomies were used to torture minorities and the sick and disabled. It’s not a punchline for your social media post. If you don’t know the history, please educate yourself.

This simple phrase can save your life when a doctor is refusing care. “I want you to note that down in my chart.” They’ll often backtrack bc once refusal of care/ testing is notated it becomes a legal liability for them.
