books should have an anti-acknowledgements section where the author talks shit about all the people who fucked them over while they were trying to write the thing. not bc I personally want to write one but bc I love gossip

“She would show up looking like a forever 21 employee and then murder 15 people.”

This is hysterically funny.

The heat alarm here went from nothing to beeping a low battery warning every 40 seconds. We replaced it as close to immediately as possible.

Has anyone ever met someone who’s a regular commenter on The Journal? I’d love if they did an in-depth investigation into one of those little weirdos

Also I'd never in my life heard "keepie-uppies" till this week. I think it's called soloing down the west
skybrina.org
The current @thejournal.ie poll was... not tested
Poll "how many keepie-uppies can you do?" includes the options "0", "up to 10", "more than 20" and "20 or more", "so many that I lose count" and an empty option

like some of my lack of body awareness is from not doing sport as a child, and some of it is from forgetting the world exists outside of the screen and my own mind

This is a completely correctable lack, but how I have not bought a full-length mirror despite at least 10 years of dabbling in dance? I've repeatedly had the thought "this feels right but I don't know if it looks right" when practicing a move but forgot the very simple fix of buying stuff

I'm not great at spotting genAI art but there's a fuzzy-smooth grainy texture to a lot of it (including this) that's distinctly different to "normal" texture effects

Also wanted to add that the gifts included a hairtie and a light sleep robe that we all wore at the night before the wedding staying over with the bride, felt nice to have those little matching accessories to feel like a crew. :)

Actually I might delete this comment ^ once you've seen it, my account's pretty anonymous but I feel like I'm putting someone else's business out there!

Sure, they’re not wrong that a lot of people will believe their friends/relatives are innocent when they’re not… but that’s still shit and worth being mad about! especially in blatant cases like with Allen

Because boy, howdy, nobody knows ritual and symbolism like the Catholic Church, and having it turned squarely back on the Very Bad Catholics who have been the public standard-bearers of wielding it for evil for so long is really good to see.

Catherine Connolly once told an American tourist that when we want to say, "I love you", we say, "An bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithreas".

Catherine Connolly uses the teaspoon in the sugar bowl to stir her tea with and PUTS it back in the bowl, wet!

While providing tech support for my FIL:

FIL: What's that screen?

ME: The terminal. You should never use it.

FIL: Never?

ME: So you know how I'm allowed to watch you open the electrical panel and swap out breakers, but I'm not allowed to ever open up it myself?

FIL: Ah! I understand, thank you.

It still annoys me that I read so much Murakami as a teenage girl and saw this kind of thing as the price of admission to reading literary fiction.

just checked out murakami’s latest book at the library. read his description of a teenage girl in the first chapter, and then immediately checked the book back in. somehow i thought he would have outgrown this literary trait of his 😭 it’s ok i can read the other books i found

I'd love to know if Google makes its few still-useful features like Reviews and Maps increasingly impossible to use only to stave off anti-trust cases, or if it's because their web developers like to give users a invigorating challenge by hiding information
