I never took the DS game models as accurate, since they're so low detail and so different from the artwork. It's like when you see your chibi Pokemon Trainer sprite, but you know they're actually supposed to look like the official art.

I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know how involved the actual film they were, but yeah, the last big marketing push at the premiere was Tron-styled Tesla robots and posters designed by Grok. It's what put the last nail in the coffin for me.

Yeah, Leto seems to be involved because he paid for it. The new one is bombing at the box office, and people are trying to say that's because nobody likes Tron, rather than because most of the Tron audience are put off by Leto, Mr. Beast, Elon Musk and GenAI's involvement in the movie and marketing.

Disney are the first to abandon a franchise if it's making less money than they want. The reason Tron was left untouched for decades after the original is because it was ONLY a modest success. But they wouldn't keep going back to it for 40 years if it didn't do numbers. This is the first bomb.

I'm seeing people trying to excuse Leto's effect by saying Tron movies always bomb. That's not true. The worst performing Tron movie before this one was considered a modest success. The second one was #1 at the box office when it opened! Tron: Legacy did so well it spawned a TV series!

That's not true. The first Tron, at the time, was Disney's biggest live-action success in 5 years, and without it we wouldn't have Toy Story. The second one was #1 at the box office at release.

Tron's really popular with artists, I think because the movies are basically just big shiny art/music pieces. But Jared Leto, Mr. Beast, Tesla and Grok are all very much NOT popular with artists, and including them all totally demolished the target demo.
