When bad design isn’t a mistake, it’s the strategy. The “America by Design” initiative isn’t just a messy website. It redefines design itself, away from accessibility and toward exclusion, erasure, and control. Latest essay by @emcg.bsky.social

Here are some photos from the V&A South Kensington’s Friday Late: On/Off on June 27. As part of the programming, Queer Botany gave guided walks in the Museum’s garden.

Found Fukt Magazine 22 (the nature issue) at Unitom book store, Manchester. It has an article on queer ecology featuring my illustrations for my project on #QueerBotany.
The original logo for A Dash of Lavender was designed by me in 2022 based off the Worshipful Society of Apothacaries of London coat of arms, featuring the diety Apollo (god of the sun and healing). I revised it and removed the figure, focusing on the sun and lavender.
Intersex-inclusive Progressive #PrideFlag collage for Chelsea Physic Garden. The flag has been combined w/ artwork of the Garden's plants that have connections to the LGBTQ+ community. The source artwork was painted by the Garden's Florilegium Society. #lgbthistorymonth
In 2024 I helped Chelsea Physic Garden with ‘A Dash of Lavender’ on a revised logo, map, & pride flag collage. For #lgbthistorymonth the Garden celebrated diversity in people & plants. The #map shows the trail highlighting stories about the Garden & plants from a queer perspective.
Wow, what a great name for this bird! The bee orchid is super interesting. It evolved to mimic the appearance and scent of a female bee species attracting the males to attempt to mate with it.
Hi. There are so many. Maybe the bee orchid (Ophrys apifera)? I did not draw it. It’s a digital collage using old botanical illustrations. It was originally done for a plant nursery.
Hello. I’m a designer, illustrator, collagist, and queer botanist.
