Erasmus allows apprentices and lecturers to get viable experience abroad too.

I found it life changing

"Students, especially the less well-off, miss out on the opportunity to study abroad."

Young people deserve better.

We need a youth mobility scheme with the EU. 🇪🇺

How Brexit has made studying abroad less accessible
Freedom of movement enriched the lives of many young people before Brexit; it's far more complicated and therefore restricted now

Since Brexit, studying in Europe is no longer as simple for UK students – visas, permits and funding now add extra steps. Debut report by Sam Johnson

Brexit promised freedom – instead it took it away. The end of free movement stripped UK students of easy access to European universities. Erasmus+ was replaced by a weaker scheme, shutting doors to those who need them most.

The Turing Scheme replaced Erasmus+, but for many students the process is slower and funding less certain, penalising students from low-income families.

Brexit didn’t just close borders – it closed doors for students. UK citizens once studied in Europe visa free.

Now, costly and complex visa hurdles block opportunities – hitting poorer students hardest.
