After working hard for years to end the tradition of celebrating Halloween on the Strip at SIU, the school, the city, and the alumni are working hard to resurrect it. Remember when they used to shut the University down and send students home during Halloween in an effort to stop the partying?
Anybody remember this retro futuristic installation on the second floor of the Student Center, just outside the theater? The solar panels revolved. What was it for? What was it called?

Built originally as a women's residence hall in 1953, Woody Hall was converted to office use in 1968. In 2013, a new Student Services building opened where the old parking deck across from the old stadium used to be. So, a lot of what used to bring you to Woody takes place somewhere else.
It's not an uncommon sight around Campus, scattered electric scooters.

The Big Chill replaced the Dairy Queen on the Strip. Multiple DQ'S across Illinois were forced to give up their franchise when Dairy Queen corporate demanded changes their owners didn't agree to.
Faner Hall, primarily housing the College of Liberal Arts, was built in 1974. It's 278,000 square feet of Brutalist architecture and measures 914 feet long.
Saluki Village is the proposed replacement for Greek Row. The mixed use housing would include 898 new beds, a community building, and 4 to 5 houses for special interest housing. Target opening August 2027.
SIU College of Business and Analytics Rehn Hall. Starting with bookkeeping classes in 1894, the business school came into its own in 1957. Rehn Hall was dedicated in 1983.

The Buckminster Fuller Dome Home is celebrating his birthday with a block party.
Wheeler Hall. Home to the SIU School of Medicine offices. Built in 1904, it's the 3rd structure built on Campus. It was also the first stand-alone library on Campus, known for decades as Wheeler Library.
Saluki Formula Racing? Walking around campus not long ago, I noticed an open door, and inside, they were working on this. I had no idea.
