Years ago, I read an interview w/Bree Sharp of "David Duchovny" fame, where she said she HATED earnestness in songs. Never could make sense of it. "Walk Away" has a place on my perfect songs list. And it sure sounds earnest to me.

Oh whatever! It's a '67 Chip Taylor composition that first broke through with Merrilee Rush in 1968. They're all pretty darn similar, IMO, too. Although, Juice Newton's ups the theatricality & intensity a tad. In any case, Chip Taylor and 60s music for the win.
