Wonderful occupation-centred piece of work in addictions in this months OT News 👌
Said goodbye to my 2 project placement students today. One had this commissioned to remember the time here. Love it 😆 Really captured the beard.

Challenging day at work. Bit of #christmas crafting sorts me right out! 😆

Obviously, #substanceuse and #addiction should feature on any good agenda given the ubiquitous nature of drugs and alcohol. The impacts on cognition and occupation are huge!

Also, really curious about the dynamics of #stigma and its influence on occupational participation.

They were a hungry bunch. My year there restored my confidence as an OT. I only bake for the people I like 😆 #OTChat
I don't know about that, but I do enjoy feeding people. I used to love Friday mornings when working in patient mental health. The therapy kitchen would be full. Everyone baking fur home leave or family visits. Good times.
Great British bake off! #OTChat
Evening. I'm Jon. I'm an OT working in a specialist substance use service in Wales. Interesting fact? I've applied to GBBO about 3 times, and made it to in person try outs once #OTChat
Nestled in the corner of the sofa. Fed n' watered. Rather content!
Love that idea. Practically a Christmas wreath in it!
Didn't get myself organised in time, so I didn't get it printed. Might aswell share here so it's not a wasted effort!

People were mad for crochet when I was doing my undergrad training. I just couldn't get into it. Nowadays, I'm not great, the motivation is very different, but you gotta work with what you can do!

The occupation of using substances can be a significant element of occupational identity can't it! The thing I love about group, the participants will only occasionally talk about substances. They've shared how they really value a place free from this, and not having skills pressed upon them.
Please go ahead and add me too 👍
I know a few peers seeking a new model/approach as the AMPS training was discontinued. It might whet the appetite for training.
The PRPP has come up in conversation a few times in the OT & Substance use field (often with alcohol related cognitive impairment service users). I'm wondering if you may have some time (or know someone who might) to join one of our network meetings to describe its application?
MOHO fanboy here. It has helped me to articulate the needs of service users' occupational needs in a substance use service where 'motivation' and 'engagement' are often in question. Often, unfortunately, by the time I meet people, personal causation is at an all-time low.
The feedback we often get is that participants can be themselves here, and talk openly about what they're going through and how they're feeling compared to so many other third sector community groups.
