As so often, @laylamoran.bsky.social finds gracious, unifying words.

"I choose to believe that peace is possible. Everyone who went on a protest, wrote to their MP, cares about it, shouted at their TV - from whatever point of view - what were those deaths for, if not for a sustainable peace?" ~AA

I can still remember my parents (now non-existent) landline…

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

👏🏽 Trying to engage with bad faith politicians - however overpromoted - is pointless. Once you establish beyond doubt that they will not answer a question, that they are not there to provide information, but to spout conspiracy nonsense, there is no point in continuing to amplify them. ~AA

STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

Let’s not forget when the Tories were last in office - according to international Human Rights Watch - the UK was on course to make the list of countries that abuse rather than protect human rights

We need to protect the ECHR, not leave it

This is very flawed, but interesting critique of Trump from a right wing standpoint. ~AA

The Shoreline Management Plan sets out which of Norfolk's coastal communities will be defended and which will be surrendered to the sea. Few realise what that really means.

Kudos to ⁦‪@mehdirhasan‬⁩.

Not only did he invite me on his show in 2018 to talk about my investigation into Farage’s funders (no UK channel ever did).

But he also asked a former colleague of Nathan Gill’s in the EU parliament whether UKIP had ever taken Russian bribes 🔥

TikTok is getting rid of the London staff who keep you safe from harmful, misleading and illegal content. When did they announce the job cuts? Eight days before those employees were due to vote on unionising.

63 years ago tonight Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? exploded on to Broadway. Uta Hagen played Martha and when she left the show she was replaced by, um, Elaine Stritch. Can you imagine? You don’t have to because 11 years later she recorded the whole damn thing.
AND HERE IT IS.

Are we really asked to believe a single civil servant is alone responsible? I fear he may be being made a scapegoat. Why not publish the evidence, publish the correspondence between NSA and Deputy NSA, and have the NSA answer parliamentarians’ questions?
