Canadian living in The Maritimes! Lover of all things fermented, boardgames, cooking, and the outdoors. He/Him
Feeling lots of #nostalgia tonight I guess. I moved to #Vancouver because I wanted to spend time in the mountains and I did.
2 or 3 weekends a month for years. I climbed mountains. I wandered alone into the silent places, where no one could hear my name.

One last picture from my #ScoutingHistory.
This was the trip where I saw mountains for the first time in my life. I was blown away, I knew I wanted to live close to them once I graduated high school.
I also didn't want to give up the ocean, so Vancouver seemed the perfect choice.

The last picture I posted was of me when I was in Beavers.

#ScoutsCanada had a huge impact on my life. I was a youth member for more than a decade. I spent another two decades as a leader, and a trainer of leaders.
It's a large part of why I moved to Vancouver from the Maritimes.

And it's #Day36 of playing my piano every day!

The first song I'm learning with my new #piano teacher is, Skip To My Lou!
Staying focused on hand shape, and which fingers to use. And we're working on my sight reading skills for the bass clef. #WeAllStartSomewhere

I had my first #piano lesson today! I learned things today, and he pointed out things I was not doing quite right.

Mostly around hand placement and which fingers to use but now is the time to learn good habits, not bad ones.
And new scales, and how scales work and why!

My first time getting a #beer poked! They take a red hot poker from the fire and use it to poke the beer.
Caramelizes it and you end up with warm foam but cold beer!

Thank you Catherine O'Hara for all the laughter you gifted us. From SCTV to Schitts Creek you were a comedic force.

A little bit of laughter left the world today, and we are the sadder for it.

Another photo from that same group. My tante Bernadette, 2nd row third from the right, Bernadette Boudreau a Jimmy Saco, is how she is labeled in this photo.
It's because she is #Acadian as am I, and it tells any other Acadian who we are.
I am Marc Boudreau a Jimmy Saco

I recently joined a FB Group and found a picture of my Dad.
I have never seen a picture of him before he joined the Air Force after high school.
Auguste Boudreau, my Dad.

I get you may not be a #chess person but I've been playing and losing to aeon1 for awhile now. We chat and have developed a bit of a friendship through the app.
As I was crashing and burning again tonight, I messaged that this was likely a draw, so he offered me one.
I damn near shit myself laughing

Today was #Day30 of me playing my #piano everyday.
Every damn day. Even when I didn't want to.
Send me all your good mojo for my next 30 days, please! 🎹

Has anyone else ever considered that they gave Jesus a Mexican name because of how heavenly their food is?

One of the recipes from my personal cookbook that I feel I have dialed in is my chili recipe.
It's warming without being overly spicy and my #SecretIngredients add some extra depth!

"You can find an adventure almost anywhere if you are prepared to do something a little bit stupid." - Roland Burton - Varsity Outdoor Club Journal, Volume 14, 1971, pg.34

Back in the day, when I used to do a lot of #backpacking this quote was the inspiration for many trips!

Rewatching #Highlander for the millionth time, lol
I can remember sitting in my basement apartment in 1987 and watching this on VHS for the first time. I loved it!
One of the things I loved is that they couldn't possibly do any sequels and fuck it up...

My finished pizza!

I kept it simple, pepperoni and olives for toppings.

The sauce brought in the flavours from the parsley and oregano. The anchovie paste I made gave the sauce its salty umami.

Tastes even better than it looks!

Dough has risen once. One for the fridge, one for the pan! #PizzaAndSciFiNight!
January 23, 2026 at 11:26 PM
Dough is now rising.
I'll let this double then punch it back. It's enough dough for 2 pizzas so I'll put half into the fridge for tomorrow.
The other half, I'll spread on the pan and let it raise again before building my pizza. #PizzaAndSciFiNight

My wife is away for the night so I'm having a pizza night and watching sci-fi movies!
I have the sauce made and blending and the yeast blooming for my dough.

I'm so excited, I found a #piano teacher! It will just be 30 minutes, once a week.
The teacher is my cousin, Leo! Well 1st cousin once removed, or 2nd cousin depending on how you phrase things.
He's my cousin's son and is 18 years old.

I haven't said anything because I wasn't sure but I can already see the improvement in my #piano playing.
It's #Day26 and I can see that I'm able to read the treble clef easily, I struggle with the bass clef still so I need to practice that more.
I can play with both hands easier as well.
January 22, 2026 at 11:41 PM
I decided that since I've been doing so well with playing my #piano every day, today will be #Day25!
I decided that I wanted the ability to keep practicing even if we were traveling.
I found this silicon, foldable, roll up, piano, for a good price on FB Marketplace so I bought it. 🎹

So there is one philosophy for married life that is essentially, "Happy wife, happy life."
I prefer to follow more of a chaos principle,
"Slightly annoying the wife, way more amusing life."

PM Mark Carney's speech today at Davos is something that will be spoken of by people far more knowledgeable and insightful than I am, but I found it impactful and inspiring.

That he wrote the speech himself, it gives me hope in a world that seems a little too much right now.
