Portrait of Rowy, @drawonline.bsky.social - 4 hours oil painting
My lovely friend's lovely gold bum
I set up a 4 hour podcast playlist to time myself for these, it works quite well. I stop painting when I stop listening.
A couple of in progress pics
This was one of my pre painted boards. I let the pink come through into Cat's cheeks. I think it also works nicely with the green.
Felt like I was working more slowly here. Or the glasses took a long time!
I didn't originally intend this style but wasn't happy with the way the colour blend was working (possibly as a result of a smoother surface) - I love this style and enjoy finding the tiny hints of colour hiding in the skin tone that I can bring out into bold hues and big strokes 😁🌈
I started to include the hands but then realised (a) I only had half hands anyway (b) they were maybe a bit ambitious for four hours...
Trying to hold off from lighter/ Ti white based colours until later on as these tend to get dragged in and make things chalky elsewhere.
I started with quite a strong blue pencil outline which in retrospect I think was a bit too strong and I was fighting against it in the face tones a bit.
