I think a lot of issues people have with reading aoex is they're approaching it from the perspective of a person with a Christian upbringing and not a Japanese woman using Abrahamic faiths and other mythologies as a jumping board for making up her own lore

I think the corollary that a lot of people miss about "write what you know" is that *you have the power to know more things.* Research and talking to people are a central part of writing!
