2/ Until the 1980s Little Egrets were a rare sight in the UK but they’ve been on the up since they first bred in Dorset in 1996. Population estimates have, however, proven tricky to assess, with birdwatchers contributing data to @ukrbbp.bsky.social and BTO’s Heronries Census.

Loved the Siberia books. I got to see one of his Grey Plover skins in the Hancock back room some years back, complete with handwritten label from one of his Siberia expeditions. And birders on Shetland call it 'work'...😁
