Yeah it's bad. The stealth is actually even killer, it plays great until you decide to stop playing it (a non-organic point you will reach when you simply Tire Of It) but combat with Naoe is typical Assassin's Creed dreck. But then Yasuke feels like they forgot to design combat for him?

Well that's actually the problem; Naoe still controls that way. Yasuke just shows up and bullies enemies around, all combat actually starts to fall apart because he just rolls over everything in a really clumsy way that doesn't feel like a rewarding breaking through of the combat rules, but just

Conceptually, yes. In practice, the parts where you control Yasuke were the least fun parts of Shadows and it's not even close. Not because samurai specifically, but because they overcorrected on contrasting the two protags but it's clear they didn't retool combat to account for him.
