The Government has invested £100m in hospice facilities across England, including £434k for Hope House and £689k for Severn Hospice, to build family rooms, communal spaces and more. As Telford’s MP I’ll keep standing up for our brilliant hospices and the brilliant people who keep them running.
I met with Hospice UK in Parliament this morning to mark Hospice Care Week. As I said last week, our hospices do vital and irreplaceable work, and we need to support hospices like Severn Hospice and Hope House Children’s Hospice - both with resources and reform to make them sustainable.
It was great to meet Flood Mary, the flood resilience champion, and Flood Re to discuss how we can protect ourselves against floods. We need flood-resilient infrastructure; support from flood insurance companies like Flood Re; & tools to minimise the impact of floods on communities like Ironbridge.

Historically flooding in areas like Ironbridge has devastated homes and businesses and I have been pushing for long-term flood defences, improved infrastructure, and working closely with partners like the Environment Agency.
As a part of Flood Awareness Week, I visited Flood Mary in Parliament to hear about the work she is doing to help people prepare for flooding.
I’m proud to see the level of support that Telford residents give to people experiencing homelessness. It’s vital we help those who do this vital work, and this funding will help both the Council and local charities and community groups continue what they do.
Councils are getting funding boosts for key local services:
• Rough sleeping prevention
• Support for children and families
• Drug and alcohol treatment
• Supporting the voluntary and community sector
Today is World Homelessness Day, and this is a dangerous time of year for those without a home or sleeping rough. The Govt has announced £84m funding to help local authorities like Telford & Wrekin Council tackle homelessness.

@shaundaviesmp.bsky.social thanks so much for visiting @thestrokeassoc.bsky.social stand at #Lab25 and supporting stroke. The UK's 1.4 million stroke survivors need as many parliamentary champions as possible👃

Great to see @shaundaviesmp.bsky.social at #Lab25 to discuss how we can continue to make progress and improve cancer outcomes. Thanks for visiting our stand!
Our businesses, jobs and public services need stronger protection, and Britain must step up to deliver it.
This is and will continue to be a very worrying time for workers and business, and I’ll continue to work and engage with the govt.

But alongside this good news, there’s another big challenge we can’t ignore. Cyber attacks – from domestic criminal gangs to international groups – are on the rise.
Since the attack, I’ve been in close contact with Telford businesses and have held a number of meetings with government ministers to make the case for this support. I’m delighted to see those efforts pay off today.
Here in Telford, thousands of jobs depend on JLR, and in the supply chain. This is a massive boost for our local economy and for working families right here in #Telford.
🚨Big news for Telford, West Midlands & Britain this morning! 🚨

The government has just announced new measures to back Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) – and crucially, the supply chain that keeps them moving.

This is for the families of the 97 who have fought for this with resilience & determination to see justice for their loved ones & to make sure no other families experience what they did. This new law will also support other Inquires. I will support the journey of the legislation through Parliament.
I fully welcome the government’s decision to introduce the Hillsborough Law in Parliament today. This law will require public bodies and officials to be open and honest, it will give victims better access to legal aid and so much more. But this is more than just a new law...
Proud to be supporting the biggest boost to workers' rights in a generation.
I'm very proud to have nominated Bridget Phillipson to be Deputy Leader of the Labour party.

Bridget has a track record of delivery in government, she's a brilliant colleague and she embodies Labour values. I can think of no-one better to represent our party as Deputy Leader.
For me, this appointment brings together two things I care about most:
🔹 Standing up for Telford
🔹 Serving our country

I look forward to supporting John Healey and the Defence team as we work together on this vital agenda.
