The cloisters at Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, with very deep shadows. Taken in 1988 - a scan of a photograph I took.

Shadows being cast in cloisters of the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo which was built on top of the Incan Temple of the Sun / Qoricancha which is still clearly visible in Cuzco, Peru. Photo taken in 2003.

The shadows being cast across the white marble floors and arches at the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca in 2017.

Planographic #monoprint. I sprayed the plate with too much water; then blotted it in a panic. I call this #Solstice, as I see figures worshipping the bright glowing sunrise.

A colourful print in an abstract style - centre is bright light yellow, that appears to glow like the sun, which fades out to oranges, red/magenta and violets around the edges. There are darker areas with more ink (left after blotting with paper) that resemble a group of people in the lower part , and streaks and blotches in the sky, with what looks like a large tree to the left of centre that runs through the whole print.

I've tried to do Inktober a few times in the past, and many other monthly prompt challenges, and have never managed to get past, maybe, five days before losing the plot. I might try again. I finished the Masters degree, my p/t job is only 10 hours a week, no deadlines this…

Last one standing

My last remaining sibling passed away last Friday. She hadn't been well for many years and was a permanent hospital resident for the last couple as her conditions were so serious she needed full medical attention pretty much 24/7. I don't have specific details (she was in Canada…

My last remaining sibling passed away last Friday. She hadn't been well for many years and was a permanent hospital resident for the last couple as her conditions were so serious she needed full medical attention pretty much 24/7. I don't have specific details (she was in Canada and I'm in the UK) but she had been seriously ill the last time we communicated in mid-August.

Thank you Glenda. She's been in the hospital permanently for a couple years and I think she had to be necessitated a couple times too. So many problems. I haven't had any details from her ex yet (he's her next of kin and executor).

Just found out my last remaining sibling passed away on Friday. Someone I don't recognize sent me a message via my website contact form - my BIL has all my contact info so why did I find out this way? I'm the oldest of four... they went in reverse order, youngest first. Both parents gone. Sucks. 😭

First is the MA Showcase at the The Levinsky Gallery at the University of Plymouth which opens tomorrow. There is a reception on Thursday, September 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Then opening on September 22nd and running to the 28th in Paignton, is a joint show with Anna Goodchild (a fellow MA Fine Art grad!) We'll both have work for sale, including cards, prints, and gift items.

Summer’s been a bust for me, literally

Back at the beginning of July I tripped while walking the dog... ambulance ride, admitted to hospital... blah blah blah, and four sets of x-rays, a CT scan and an MRI. Won't bore you with the long list of injuries but the top two are my front two teeth got broken - one sheered right off half-way and the other only lost a corner, and the other is an "undisplaced fracture of the trapezium" - right hand, of course.

The Cloudforest Pygmy Owl lives in the cloud forests of the Andes in Columbia and Ecuador and is a vulnerable species.
