Kimbell Athletic Field Renovation | San Francisco Recreation and Parks, CA
This project will replace field turf with new material that utilizes natural infill. All of the old turf will be removed and recycled.

We're excited to share that the renovation project at Kimbell Playground (1901 Geary Boulevard) has been completed. As part of the project, the synthetic turf on these fields was replaced after 14 years of use.

Join India Basin Waterfront Park & community partners for the Hoop 4 Peace basketball tournament—a month-long series promoting peace & unity across neighborhoods. This exciting 3-on-3 tournament features youth & adult teams from across the city competing for a $2,000 grand prize.

Roses hold special meaning in Grateful Dead lore, often appearing in the band’s lyrics, album covers, & iconography. Rec & Park gardeners planted the roses Friday morning, ensuring optimal growing conditions in their new home.
8 newly developed ‘Grateful Dead’ hybrid tea roses have been planted in the front right bed of the garden. Vibrant, fragrant, & deep red in color, the roses were bred by JB Williams & Associates (JBWA), a renowned third-generation rose breeding family based in Maryland.
As the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary is celebrated citywide this weekend—w/ festivities including the sold-out Dead & Company shows at Golden Gate Park’s Polo Field—Rec & Park has paid tribute to the band’s legacy w/ a special rose planting in Golden Gate Park’s Rose Garden.
This anniversary event is a homecoming for the band & honors its deep roots in the city & the park’s storied role as a stage for musical & social revolution.

Emerging from the Haight-Ashbury scene in the mid-1960s, the Dead helped define the sound & spirit of the counterculture movement. Their shows in the park were often alongside fellow pioneers like Jefferson Airplane & Janis Joplin & became touchstones of SF’s cultural legacy.
San Francisco’s iconic Dead & Company celebrates 60 years of the Grateful Dead’s music with three days of concerts in Golden Gate Park this weekend, the same place where their journey began.
We will also be celebrating the life & legacy of John "Iesha" Ena, who spent more than 20 years of her life serving & uplifting the Samoan community. She will be honored w/ a Samoan Dance from the Samoan Community Development Center. Details at ibwaterfrontpark.com.

El Farolito Soccer Club has punched its ticket to the National Premier Soccer League championship game! The team will face Hickory FC at Kezar Stadium (670 Kezar Drive) on Saturday, 8/2 at 5PM. Admission is free, so fans & supporters can enjoy the beautiful game.
It will be followed by the EMPIRE 15 Concert on Saturday, 9/13 at Civic Center Plaza—including breakout superstar Shaboozey, global phenom Fireboy DML & rising artist Red Leather, w/ more to be announced.
The first is the debut of Poolside’s Daytime Disco, a new branded party from the recording project of producer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise on Sunday, 9/7 in Union Square.
