Folks may remember the Card indexes at Suffolk Archives in Bury & Ipswich. The Ipswich cards were scanned & catalogued some time ago, but we have been informed Bury are now available too. Coverse Poor Law stuff (removals etc) but other stuff as well

Every day is a school day. I learned today that an Irish mile was longer than an English one with the Irish one measuring 2240 yards compared with 1760 for English and the Irish mile was used legally until 1826.

Turned my attention this evening to Suffolk Ancestry baptisms, having done the marriages. Of the first 6 Kerridge baptisms I looked at, 4 had wrong year, 1 had no year. Although 17th century, were easy to read Oh dear this is going to be a haul if that failure rate contnues
