This week, the Planning Department dropped its new StoryMap showing the changes we made. While much of our work made it into the new maps, SB79 guts the results for many neighborhoods within a half-mile radius of qualifying transit stops. Westchester, Venice, South Brentwood, and WLA/Sawtelle, I'm talking to you.

Click on the StoryMap and scroll down to the map showing the large greyed-out circles, which represent the new SB79 zones across CD11. You can zoom in to see which specific streets are now subject to mandatory upzoning for up to seven story apartment buildings, even in single-family neighborhoods. Whether you currently live in a house, condo, or apartment, these massive density increases are likely to raise infrastructure, parking, traffic, and other challenges. We will be here to answer questions and work closely with residents and City Planning to implement these changes as responsibly as we can.

We passed SB-575, and Gov. Newsom signed it into law over a year ago. This directed our Registrar to make a count of child marriages in the state, and as far as I can tell this hasn't been completed and presented to the state legislature.
