Watch tutorials with your tools open. Follow what they’re doing, experiment, understand WHY choices are made instead of just blindly following what others do. You will be better for it

I spent 2021-2024 mostly feeling sorry for myself because I couldn’t make music as good as other people. At the end of 2024 I forced myself to learn how to mix/master better and ever since I’ve been pumping out some of my best music. The secret? I just started working on producing music WAY more.

Hot Sunday take. Raw/Natural talent doesn’t exist (to the point people think it does). The reason that other person is so far ahead is because they spent countless hours practicing and doing the thing.

How do you get as good? Practice and do the thing.

Tateishi: Yeah, my thoughts have changed since I met you and became more aware of how people felt. But even when I was at Konami, I didn’t even bother telling anyone I did Mega Man 2. So the fact you came all the way to Japan to tell me these things makes me very happy I worked on the game all those years ago.
