For folks who want to honor Hoa’s legacy with a gift, Hoa’s family has asked that donations go to the David Douglas Educational Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Hoa, thank you for how much you gave to students, families, and everyone in your district and the state. Our state is stronger because of your leadership, and you will be so deeply missed.

Some people might not know this about Hoa, but she was a power weightlifter, and she was such a strong badass legislator–inside and out. Even when cancer took away her physical strength, I saw her fierce courage and determination continue shining.
senkhanhpham.bsky.social
She was open, warm, and friendly to almost everyone–but also had a steely toughness underneath, which I got to see up close in working with her as she campaigned again in 2024 for re-election.

So many memories.

I remember when Hoa first joined the legislature in 2023, she jumped right in, bringing her passion for students, immigrant families, and fighting chronic absenteeism in schools. #orleg

Transportation is what connects us to each other.

At a time of isolation and disconnection, state legislators must vow to roll up our sleeves and revisit this critical conversation about how Oregon can build a safer, healthier, cleaner transportation that literally brings all of us together. #orleg

Trump's illegal military occupation will cost $10 million.

What could Oregon do with that money instead to actually help our communities? #orpol #orleg #oregon #pdx #portland

It was shocking to learn this weekend that the President of the United States has unilaterally ordered the deployment of federal troops in Portland.

Let me be clear - nobody in Portland asked for this.

They are unwelcome, unneeded, and counterproductive to our efforts. #orleg

"We’re talking about substantially less money than many Oregonians spend a month on Netflix, all to ensure that we maintain the existing roads, bridges, buses, sidewalks, and highways that get us to work to school and to the doctor’s office. That’s it. That’s what we’re talking about here.” #orleg

The passage of Tina Kotek’s funding package, House Bill 3991, offers a lifeline to hundreds of employees at the Oregon Department of Transportation threatened with layoffs if the agency didn’t get around $300 million more in the current budget.

I'm so delighted to see the launch of @eastportlandvoice.bsky.social - a new publication covering East Portland! And how great is it to read their story on Parkrose Coffee Shop, one of my favorite new SD 23 businesses: https://www.eastportlandvoice.org/a-coffee-shop-for-five-neighborhoods/
A Coffee Shop for Five Neighborhoods
We sat down with Lily Burnett last month to learn why she and her husband, Peter Irby, chose to open Parkrose Coffee Shop, and how it’s going.

Enjoying a beautiful fall day in Portland, Oregon. We won't fall for Trump’s efforts to silence opposition and turn the city we love into a place where people feel afraid to leave our homes. We'll continue to take care of each other and stay strong in our defense of our communities and our rights.

@opb.org's coverage of the transportation legislation and the new amendment to sunset the increase in STIF funding for transit: #orleg

But the concession, hammered out after Republicans declined for hours to provide enough members for the House to conduct business on Friday, came as a bitter pill for transit agencies and their supporters. Agencies around the state have warned of looming service cuts if lawmakers didn’t approve a funding bump.

“We’re setting ourselves up for another fiscal cliff in this really vital public service,” said state Sen. Khanh Pham, D-Portland, the only lawmaker on the legislative committee who voted against the amendment.

“This is not the bill that I wanted to be voting for,” Pham said. “I’m voting for this reluctantly because I can’t in good conscience jeopardize the critical work that is needed on our state roads right now.”

This week, I voted to oppose the -18 Amendment to HB 3991 in the Joint Special Session Committee on Transportation Funding. I vow as a legislator to continue to fight for long term stable funding for this critical social service that serves the 1 in 4 Oregonians who can't or don't drive. #orleg

As we get ready for the special session this week, I wanted to talk a bit about why I’m voting yes.

Oregon needs to be clear-eyed about the challenges ahead – not self-administering our own version of DOGE and weakening our ability to invest in and protect our communities.

Gov Kotek signed Performance Based Regulation into law yesterday! PBR ties utilities' compensation to affordability, resilience, safety, clean electricity, and reliability. Oregonians deserve better value for our money when it comes to energy, and a cleaner energy future.
