Important coverage of how federal action could reshape AI regulation in California: calmatters.org/economy/tech...
Trump’s new order against AI regulation hits California especially hard
Since 2016, California enacted more AI regulations than any other state. The president's new order against such laws worries state officials.

Fortunate to join my colleagues and Speaker Rivas to celebrate new state funding for immigration services here in our community through Catholic Charities. This administration continues to target people with no criminal record who are simply trying to build better lives for their families.

Trump’s half-baked AI executive order will block states from protecting children and families while offering zero safeguards. Rather than “removing barriers,” this order creates a reckless free-for-all that puts kids at risk.

This is beyond shameful. Pete Hegseth should be absolutely ashamed. The idea that we’d authorize killing civilians — again — shows he’s never bothered to read real history. We’ve seen this before in WWII. You don’t target innocent people. Ever.

Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth may view the military as their own personal police force, but in California, our National Guard must continue to honor their duty and refuse to follow any and all illegal orders.

Six lawmakers, who all served in the military or the intelligence community, released the message in a video. The Trump administration sharply criticized the effort.
