‼️Today, 20 November 2025, the Federal Constitutional Court ruled (Ref. 2 BvR 460/25) that forcibly opening a room in shared accommodation without a court order is unconstitutional.‼️

"This ruling is an important and long overdue step. Shared accommodation is living space and not a legal vacuum.

The film tells the stories of two Palestinian refugees who end up stranded in Athens, marked by a lack of prospects, structural violence & the consequences of European isolationist policies.

On Saturday, the Oyvon, the new rescue ship from Médecins Sans Frontières, had its first mission. Forty-one people were finally brought to safety after spending three days on an unseaworthy boat in the open sea. They were allowed to disembark in Lampedusa.

🚨This morning, 41 people, who had spent three distressing days at sea on an overcrowded and unseaworthy rubber boat, were brought to safety on board the Oyvon. Three of the survivors are women and 14 are children, nine of whom are unaccompanied. 🧵

After rescuing 92 people in distress at sea, the civilian rescue ship Mediterranea was detained. Now the extent of the blockade has been determined: 60 days and a €10,000 fine. This is the second time such drastic penalties have been imposed.

Yesterday, the German Bundestag decided to extend the mandate for the EU naval mission EUNAVFOR MED IRINI. The renewed mandate no longer excludes support and training for the so-called Libyan coast guard. This had been the case since 2022.

Around 2,000 Afghans with acceptance letters from Germany are stuck in Pakistan. Now, some of them have written a letter to Chancellor Merz. They are calling on the German government to keep its promise of protection and not to hand them over to the Taliban.

Médecins Sans Frontières is sending a new ship! The news comes about a year after Médecins Sans Frontières stopped its mission with the rescue ship Geo Barents in the Mediterranean. The Oyvon (from Norwegian: hope for the island) is a smaller & faster ship than the Geo Barents.

The first ship of the Justice Fleet was unlawfully detained by Italy. This time, it was the ship Mediterranea.

These blockades are politically motivated. Time and again, courts have ruled that they are unlawful. We demand: Free Mediterranea! The blocking of civilian sea rescue operations must stop!

Together with Humanitarian Pilots Initiative (HPI), SOS Mediterranee is launching an aerial reconnaissance mission. The first reconnaissance flights of the Albatross aircraft are scheduled to begin in November.

Enough is enough! For 10 years, civilian sea rescue services have been providing first aid in the Mediterranean. For this, they have been blocked, criminalised and slandered. Under Italy's current far-right government alone, rescue ships have been detained in port for over 700 days. #JusticeFleet

The Italian Court of Appeal in Cantazaro upheld the decision of the Court of Crotone and clarified that the detention of the civilian rescue ship Humanity 1 belonging to the NGO SOS Humanity was unlawful.
