I'd say check some basic rules about shapes and colors in pixel art in basically any beginners guide online, and start with smaller resolutions.
It took me years of short attempts to learn it before it finally clicked for me this time. Posting stuff online and getting feedback motivated me I guess.

Wanna try to make a sci-fi vn or maybe an rpgmaker game about a huge space empire that will include some deep philosophical themes, exaggerated politics, a touching message and, of course, three thousand orgies.
