50 years after the wars in Southeast Asia, the US is detaining and deporting the very communities it once promised to protect. This is a betrayal of history—and of our families.
We will continue to fight back and demand for the safety of refugees and immigrants. www.newsweek.com/ice-migrants...
Our communities deserve to be fully counted and represented in the data that shape our future. SEARAC urges leaders at all levels to reject efforts that politicize the census. Read the full statement here: searac.org/news/searac-...

Health care is a human right, and handing over personal data to ICE puts everyone’s access to care at risk. All communities must be able to seek and receive health care free from fear of potential detention and deportation—and with the confidence that their private data is protected.
Today, the House passed the budget reconciliation bill by a 218-214 vote. The bill drastically increases funding for deportations while slashing funding for Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical programs that provide for peoples’ basic needs.
Nearly 1 in 5 SEAAs live at or near poverty—and for many, federally funded education programs are the difference between falling behind or moving forward. Cutting these funds means SEAA students will lose the resources they need. Take action today at bit.ly/seaatakeaction #OurRootsOurPower
The Republican spending bill demands massive cuts to food security programs like SNAP and the national free lunch program. These programs feed millions of families. We say: No cuts to our communities’ food and futures. Tell your Representative to vote NO at bit.ly/seaatakeaction #OurRootsOurPower
Right now, SEARAC is on the Hill w/ our #LAT2025 cohort, demanding the Senate vote NO on the budget bill. Congress is racing to pass a big bad bill that will fund tax cuts for billionaires and supercharge deportations. Tell your US senators to vote NO at bit.ly/SEAApower #OurRootsOurPower

Follow along @SEARAC for more updates throughout #LAT2025!
The Republicans’ massive big, bad bill would pour up to billions of dollars into immigration enforcement while slashing funding that goes to crucial support systems like Medicaid, Pell Grant, and SNAP. Tell your US senators to vote NO on the reconciliation bill at bit.ly/SEAApower #OurRootsOurPower
SEARAC is appalled at yesterday’s 6-3 Supreme Court decision. This decision tears our communities from their families and the only home they’ve ever known in the United States, without the opportunity to present their case before a judge.
SEARAC strongly denounces President Trump’s travel ban and unequivocally condemns his Administration’s use of military force against peaceful protesters in Los Angeles demanding dignity, safety, and justice for immigrants.
