I assumed as much, but wanted them to say it. It turns out they were full-on delusional, not just racist. I don’t know if I’m blocked or they got banned, but it was quite the grossly ignorant tirade.

I don’t read Hebrew. Can you point me to translations of the passages in the Torah that instruct Jews to convert or kill non-Jews?
seanofthedev.bsky.social
I’ve never heard of a Jew that teaches from the bible or looks to the bible for religious guidance.

The bible I actually have read. I don’t recall a directive to Jews in the Old Testament to kill all non-Jews, even if Jews did follow the bible.

Do you mean the Torah?

I haven’t studied Judaism all that much. Are you saying that it’s a core religious belief of those who practice Judaism that they should kill all Christians, Buddhist, Hindus, Sikhs, Vikings, Witches and others?

It feels like the detractors are complaining about potentially-missing parts of inflation rather than what inflation actually predicts.

Like they want inflation to act as a GUT or else it’s rubbish. Perfect seamless answers or disregard.

Isn’t that effort better focused on expanding or disproving?

I don’t even like to multitask (though I’m often forced to). I can’t fit more than one non-trivial model in my head.

Maybe that’s why I’m not 10x.

No 10x on this bagel. Just dry. And plain. And dry. Like a chewy, unsalted saltine.

I run OrbStack because it was noticeably faster and more responsive. Docker Desktop might be better these days on Mac, but OrbStack hasn’t caused me any motivation to switch.

I can’t multi game like I used to, but Yotei looks so good once I can tear myself away from Manor Lords.

I’ll be damned if this isn’t always true. Foil wrapped, 3 days old in the fridge? Air fryer for 7 minutes or less and it’s like fresh.

Cold pizza has lost its charm.

Make your #Rails #Minitest tests friendly: `require "colorize"`

Then add `.black.on_red` for your failed assertions.

Add `black.on_yellow` for your failed setup assertions. I also prepend the message with "SETUP:"

Now you can quickly see the problem and not even need the trace in some instances.

Ell oh ell, sir. I forgot that people did stuff like that.

In a #Rails app, migrations are the same thing as command line history and should be treated accordingly.

I have not but I used Inmersed with an Oculus 2 and quite enjoyed it except for the headset weight.

I was following the glasses Immersed is making, the Visor. I’m curious to see more of these lightweight options and see them compete.

Yet another situation in which rubber sheets solve all problems.

It ain’t the size of the slice, it’s the plenitude of the pepperoni.

Everyone in tech always celebrates number go up, but no one ever celebrates number go down. This is the result of our hubris. This is the integer of our discontent.

Exactly. You know that the speaker has no response below 80 Hz, so you add harmonics above 80 that a listener’s brain “fills in” with the missing fundamental.

I do it with Waves Renaissance Bass. The name is rather ironic because actual renaissance music mixes wouldn’t dream of using it!

192 for popular music probably won’t do much for the majority of listeners. Classical listeners value fidelity over portability.

Just my experience, other mix engineers might disagree.
seanofthedev.bsky.social
Classical music makes a more nuanced use of the full sonic range.

Popular music tends to roll off lows and excite highs surgically out of a concern for sounding good on poor speakers. That’s why we process bass harmonics for laptop speakers.

Classical takes a “purer” approach to the mix.

I spent $125 for #Hotwire Office Hours with @pascallaliberte.me. It's the most useful expenditure for improving my toolkit outside #Rails conferences. And I could even speak back!

This was high-effort, direct feedback and discussion, not just idealized sample code. Incredible value and tons of fun.

Where he talks about Pax Railsana as a way of saying this is the time in which Rails is at its finest?

Or where he mentions expanding the peaceful Rails empire in all directions?

I phrase all pairing requests as "Hey, would you exist in Zoom meeting while I do something so that I can immediately see what I've been missing for the last 15 minutes?"

or

"Who wants to find an obvious typo that is completely invisible to me?" and then trick them with the pizza emoji.

Void of any context? No.

I assume you're referring to specific incident, but I don't know which one it is.

Many people and memes reference the Roman Empire in innocuous ways, so it's not an automatic problem to my mind.

Again, context matters.

At this point, this says more about Andrew Gounardes than it does about Zohran Mamdani. It probably shouldn't be that way, but here we are.

I hope New York gets that Z-pak to cure its ills.
