Been resting up all day, watching the first three series of Toast of London. The Bob Monkhouse / Royal Variety Performance episode in series 3 is one of my favourites - absolutely hilarious. I like the Bond audition one in series 1 a lot too. Good, ridiculous and bizarre fun.

Thanks for the kind messages. I’m home from hospital - the op went well and I’m resting up. I’m going to be sore for a while but I have a big bag of meds to work my way through over the next few weeks.💊

Thanks - I think I’ve got an album by Penicillin Cats…

Making the most of it while I’m in here…

‘Do you have any allergies?’
‘Penicillin and cats.’ 🤨

Off for a minor op - going to be out of action for at least a couple of days. At least I get to put my feet up for a bit…

One of my favourite albums of the year is Rainy Sunday Afternoon by The Divine Comedy, so it was great to see some of it performed live at The Barbican on a fine Sunday evening, complete with a drinks trolley wheeled on stage mid-set, so Neil Hannon and his band could enjoy beverages. Pure class.

Big thanks to Mark Billingham and Michael Weston King for a great Sunday afternoon of crime fiction and country music at the Betsey Trotwood - the fourth in our Everyday I Write The Book series of author and music mash-ups.More events planned for 2026.Thanks to everyone who came:it was a lot of fun.

Great night at The Barbican for a gig by The Divine Comedy but so expensive: two alcoholic drinks - a small wine and a pint: £18! My sister also had a hot meal and a soft drink for £16… Two drinks are more than a meal… 🤨 #ripoffBritain

Can you claim compensation for physical and mental trauma after being subjected to almost two hours of Ed Sheeran’s music on a loud, large and tinny speaker at a child’s birthday party?
seanhannam.bsky.social
I do have a headache from two hours of it… Galway Girl was particularly traumatic.

Help - I’m with the kids at a seven-year-old’s birthday party and a large ‘party speaker’ is blasting out non-stop Ed Sheeran.

I seem to remember Shark Boy supporting… It was a good gig - the only time I saw Suede with Bernard in the lineup. So glad I did.

I got the Gallaghers’ autographs backstage at TJ’s and my mate nabbed the set list…
seanhannam.bsky.social
Ahh - brilliant. I lived in Treforest while studying - ‘92 to ‘95. I saw Oasis at TJ’s in Newport, James - supported by Radiohead - at Newport Centre. Saw Suede in Newport too, and Oasis at Cardiff Astoria and the university…

I was at that Blackwood gig. No backstage pass but I did grab a poster off the wall! Both bands were on fire that night!

Brilliant! It was a great gig. I was at university in South Wales - saw lots of good bands there in the ‘90s…

Wish I could’ve made the Leeds show but sadly I had other commitments… and it was too far away from home.
