U.S. healthcare, already the lowest-ranked and most expensive of any developed democracy, is about to get much worse and even more expensive, particularly in rural Red states that voted for “king” Trump. Just out of their own self-interest, I frankly don’t see how anyone can vote Republican.
‘Sort of blackmail’: Billions in rural health funding hinge on states passing Trump-backed policies
Democrats and health advocates described the strategy as highly unusual, and some fear it could be wielded to favor political allies.

I have said many times on SR, that Americans today are less educated than they were in the 1800s, even in rural one-room schools. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this actual test from the 19th century, and see how you would do.
Could You Pass a School Exam From the 1800s?
Tests are rarely enjoyable, but imagine taking one in the late 1800s, long before multiple-choice options or standardized curricula. Back then, school exams could be long, demanding, and startlingly w...

Bill McKibben mirrors my own thinking. Like him, I have been struck by the blatant racism of “king” Trump and his administration. One would have to go back to the Civil War period to hear any American politicians spew out such racist hate.
