Psst...

If you'd like to actually see V/H/S HALLOWEEN on the big screen, it's playing in Columbus, Ohio next weekend as part of this year's Nightmares Film Festival.

“You can’t get a Twix every time you dig into that bulk candy assortment bag. But V/H/S/Halloween’s ratio of choice treats to forgettable-but-edible is strong enough to leave you with a little sugar high.” Our take:

Everyone I trust keeps saying as much!

It just excites me for it even more. We get horror movie docs regularly these days, but all too often they are surface-level fluff devoid of any real new information and insights. I'm happy to hear that isn't the case with this one.

If you have the ability to attend Nightmares Film Festival this year and you're still not planning on doing it...well...what are you even doing with your life?
schlocketeer.bsky.social
Bummed, but also not surprised that this isn't hitting theaters in my area. That's ok though. It just means that I can sit at home and watch a new Kostanski movie in my underwear like a proper sicko.

I should add that I don't mean that they're all malevolent. Just that, when running a big company full of tons of employees & dealing with a bunch of other companies, the odds of being able to keep that going without having to make some uneasy compromises are incredibly low. It's never fully clean.

I hate that we don't have at least 10 Clive Barker feature films to talk about. Not only are his stories a unique delight but his cinematic energy is equally one-of-a-kind. These three movies stand out in a crowd, even amongst their genre peers.

We missed out.

I don't think it's possible for any large company to be ethically run. If an organization is big enough to have a CEO, odds are high that problematic things are occurring somewhere within it.

Hundreds of Beavers. Daniel Isn't Real. We're All Going to the World's Fair. The Head Hunter. The Waves of Madness. All Jacked Up & Full of Worms. Scare Package. And so on.

All played past years of NFF. Attend this year and get a headstart on 2026's indie diamonds!

18 features and 130 shorts across 4 days. That's a massive load of indie genre cinema spanning horror, thriller, and midnight movie fare. It's a can't-miss event every year and 2025 is no exception. If you have the ability to come, I guarantee you'll have a great time if you decide to make the leap.

- A screening of the only-ever-in-theaters gonzo adaptation of Fuck My Son.

- Tina Romero's Queens of the Dead, with a live introduction by the great Nina West.

- An insanely rare theatrical screening of V/H/S Halloween.

And that's just the tip of it all...

NFFX is delivering Nightmares Film Festival's strongest program to date. If ever you were considering attending, this is the year to do it...

- New films from Jason Trost, Brandon Christensen, Robbie Banfitch, Chris Stuckmann, Adrian Tofei, and Kevin Lewis.

It's equal parts sad and hilarious that while Disney brass (and other studio heads) clearly haven't figured out that Leto isn't a draw (or even an added value element), the Disney marketing department sure as shit knows it. Hence the promos almost entirely focusing on the visuals and NIN.

No intention of watching the movie but I am intently watching trailers for TRON ARES because I want to know how long they can pretend that Jared Leto (aka "IT'S THE TITULAR ROLE") doesn't exist.

I adore Penny Dreadful, although I remain eternally bummed that it had a half-assed slapped together finale because Eva Green wanted to move on and Showtime didn't want the show anymore if she wasn't gonna be in it.

At least it still managed to get wrapped up (mostly) decently in the sequel comics.

The new official set pic from AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY is hysterical. It's just a shot of a greenscreen stage and the focal point is...

...Joe Russo playing on his phone.

Is this perhaps the most honest studio set photo ever?
schlocketeer.bsky.social
Genuinely hope it happens. Life would be so much nicer and more fun without them around.
