In case anyone else is interested, I created a feed for Tabletop Terrain bsky.app/profile/did:...

Currently it just looks for the following hashtags - #tabletopterrain, #terrainbuild, #tabletopscenery or #terraincraft, but if anyone has any suggestions for others to include I will add them in!
A little progress on the inn. I have managed to get the top floors cut in and have made a start on the roof.

I could have just used cardboard & tiles, but I wanted to try and keep it looking as immersive as I could.

It's pretty tall on top of the sewer base!

#tabletopterrain #terrain
No worries! Hopefully it's useful! I had to do a search on how to create one when I first started with bsky and found skyfeed.app
I started many moons ago, with Heroquest, Space Crusade, Dark Future, W40k 2nd Edition, Man O' War, Space Marine (Epic - 2nd Edition), Space Hulk 1st Edition.

Happy to say that I still own all of these, except Space Hulk (which somehow went missing from my parents loft).
Haha! No blacked out windows on this one, thankfully.

I'll be doing a full interior, so I'm hoping it won't be too difficult to get my hands/paintbrush in at each level. Although some parts will need to be painted before being permanently fixed in place.
I once took an arrow to the knee...
Thanks! I'm really enjoying how this is taking shape so far!
Thanks. I plan on painting it once it’s all built. Not sure how difficult the interior will be. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it 😀
I think I've finished adding all the balsa wood. Just some thinner supports to add for the porch and jettied section, with 3mm basswood.

I'm looking forward to to getting some bricks on this thing, but I'm hoping I don't have to cut out much of the balsa wood to fit the chimney in!

#terrain
Slowly working my way up the building with the balsa wood. I have lots more beams, cross-braces, supports and trims to put in yet, as well as the whole front porch (and one entire wall I somehow missed 😅).

Dry-fitted the windows to get a feel for how it's going to look.

A top down view of the separate floors of the inn.

Room for some small improvements, but generally happy with it.

I may have to change the name from 'The Drunken Duck' to 'The Piebald Pony', to match it's clientele, as it will also feature a wine cellar underneath.

#tabletopterrain #terrain
From flat file, to 3D, to reality... it's a beast!

A couple of small adjustments needed to make it an easier fit in some places, but it's mostly there I think.

Now to start adding to it with XPS, balsa, stir sticks etc.

#tabletopterrain #terrain
I think I might have over-engineered the Drunken Duck Inn 😅

Initially designed flat, using xTool Creative Space and then imported into Tinkercad to ensure it all fits together as expected.

This is the D&D version. Hoping to do a ruined version for Mordheim/Frostgrave.

Just a quick update to let you know that I have finally opened up shipping to the USA and Canada from the website! So if you've been after some laser cut goodies for your crafting projects, now you can 😀
(Still not able to deliver to the EU yet, sorry!)
My lunchbreak 'what-if' from yesterday (which spilled over into the evening last night and this morning) resulted in a little visual and textural upgrade to my laser cut tables.

Available very soon on the website!

Let me know what you think!

#tabletopterrain #terrain #lasercutting
The result of yesterdays lunch break laser shenanigans... ladders for the sewer tiles to get to/from street level!

The 2nd pic is a modular tile 'cap', which should allow me to add sewer grates or stairs where I need them.

#tabletopterrain #terrain #lasercutting
Finished the cobbling on the 2nd tile and I'm super happy with how they look together!

I think I'll be going back to the sewer/flat/church modular tiles next, where I'll need to work out how to allow for stairs down into basements and ladders down into sewers.

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
I decided to delay painting the previous tile until I had a few more ready.

So, here's another almost completed! Mostly just cobbles and stairs left to do. I added a private little boat dock for some rich merchant to unload their dodgy wares in secret.

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
Thanks, a lot of hand-carving and Netflix 😂
Managed to finish off the stairs and the last of the cobblestones on this tile. I still need to add some details to the stair supports as they look too neat compared to the rest of it. Might add a few other details here & there, before I start undercoating.

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
The cobbling is almost done and work on the wooden stairs has begun! After that's built up, I think I'll move onto undercoating the foam and getting the first layer of colour down.

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
I'm really pleased with how this door looks now that it's painted!

Designed and laser cut from 2mm MDF, wood veneer and toothpicks!

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
brick by brick*
typing without paying enough attention there haha!
I do too! There's just something more satisfying and unique about a brick brick build!

I have a Proxxon Thermocut and mass produce myself a load of different brick sizes before starting a project.

You can get away with using a sharp knife, but it takes a bit of care and a lot more time.
The cobbling has begun!

Each cobble is 5mm x 5mm and 2-3mm high - all placed individually... Sanity not required!

#tabletopterrain #terrain #mordheim
It's all scratch built - including the sewer access door, which I designed and laser cut.
