This one’s a humdinger!
David First remains one of the unsung geniuses of hardcore minimalism, none of this post-minimalist bullshit. Revolutions was workshopped over a long period of time and it finally emerged this year via Mode Records w/ liner notes by @sarahhennies.bsky.social moderecords.bandcamp.com/album/revolu...

I was looking at some year-end lists earlier thinking "damn I didn't release anything this year" and then remembered I released three albums this year

Doing more weird shit with one of my classes - the student work is really excellent. They were asked to compose for any objects/instruments not traditionally thought of as musical instruments. Their version of Stones is quite nice, as well. Involves turntables.

Look how easy it is to do this.
On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

Quite simply my favorite composer. RIP to a true original, composer of some of the most astonishing, profound, and unusual music ever made. More people should know him and I’m glad he had a long life full of masterpieces.

the internet is wild, man. you spend your whole life perfecting what you think is a profound and powerful art practice and then everyone loses their shit about a book on your partner's mom's (who is a plant scientist) coffee table about barley.

Lovely review (in German) of the premiere of "The Blue Hour" last month at Donaueschinger Musiktage by Sarah Saviet and Joe Houston. "you lose yourself in the turmoil of multidimensional dream landscapes" www.musiktexte.online/ausgaben/nov...

My mother in law has this book on her coffee table and the first sentence of chapter 1 is, “one cannot spend 35 years looking at barley without acquiring an enormous amount of observations”
