Thank you for sharing this. Yes i think the time that it was published made it feel very confusing too-we had Harvey Weinstein, Louis CK, Kevin Spacey, then in the middle of all that, this article on Aziz that wasn’t even in the same category. Just a mess

also i think it's important for people living in oppressive regimes to hear new perspectives (although louis ck and dave chapelle are not necessary ones to hear). i just think it's more complex. all that to say i'm interested to see the response to the podcast

second, people say they're upset with the comedy festival bc of the saudi government's very bloody history of egregious human rights violations & bc the government had the comedians censor their work. i think the actual issue is the government paying them

it's still hard for me to get what exactly happened, but the only certain thing is that aziz did NOT even remotely sexually assault that woman by her own account & bc of the timing of it, it seems like that was a way for a new magazine to capitalize on the me too movement & gain publicity. & it did.

first, it seems like people never really understood the issue with that ENTIRE story to begin with. a woman who went on a date w/him told her friends that it was a bad date, and one of the friends pressured her into writing a story that infamously became a very nebulous & confusing story on consent.
