Over 11 M*A*S*H seasons, Loretta Swit turned Major Houlihan from a one-note movie character to one that was powerful and three-dimensional; watching her taught me a lot about writing. I got to tell her so a few years ago; she couldn't have been more charming. A terrible loss, but a tremendous life.

Most of you are too young to be on Medicare, but I can tell you it’s the best health insurance I’ve ever had (coupled with supplemental policies to cover added costs and prescriptions). I’m sure Dr. Oz will “reform” it, but we should fight to save its core features. You all may need it someday.
