This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

At Thanksgiving dinner tonight, one of the guests I sat next to had an ankle monitor. The ankle monitor was forced on him by ICE after they kidnapped him a few months ago and refused to release him until he agreed to wear it. He has been in the US for 9 years on a legal work visa

When Trump issued a massive pardon for those involved in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, he may have accidentally pardoned a lot of other people who committed voter fraud too. Oops? www.spotlightpa.org/news/2025/11...
Double-voting suspect claims Trump election pardon applies
Legal scholars say the suspect’s claim stems from “sloppy” language in the president’s proclamation.

Extremely good long read on how prisons shape local economies and politics. So many moments of clarity where the absurdity of the prison-as-industry proposition just slaps you in the face
The construction of prisons in rural areas can create relationships in which residents ultimately become engulfed by incarceration. “The prison almost begins to imprison the community in a way,” says a prison researcher.
The Prison Next Door
How Arkansas’ secretive plan for a new state lockup angered people in a deep red corner of rural America—and changed how some see incarceration.

this being out now is overwhelmingly exciting to me...

earlier this year, when I was having a really difficult/confusing/scary time, I went to see Eddie perform, very shortly after this was taped.

it was one of the most meaningful nights of live entertainment I've ever had.

and so. fuckin. funny.

''Prison journalism should not be illegal. It should not be starved, stifled, or silenced ... laws need to change."

Read @inquest.bsky.social's article featuring Jeremy's account of how his own journalism, and that of outside reporters wanting to tell his story, is stifled by prison authorities.
"Journalists behind bars, describing endless forms of payback, told us that retaliation was the greatest constraint on their work." Andrew Crespo & Corinne Shanahan of @endmassinc.bsky.social break down the ways prisons stop reporting of what goes on behind their walls.
When Reporting Is a Crime - Corinne Shanahan & Andrew Crespo - Inquest
States have restricted, surveilled, and punished prison journalism for decades, with dire consequences—for incarcerated people and for democracy.
