‘It’s unbelievable!’ exclaimed my 91 year old mother in law incredulously - since her 92 year old husband died last December, at least 7 other people she knows have died! I did not know how to respond…. 🙄

This shouldn't need pointing out, but immigration is not the cause of some arsehole attacking people with a knife. The, not insignificant, detail of said arsehole being born in UK aside. People claiming it is, e.g. Goodwin, Hannan et al, are showing themselves up for being ethno-nationalist racists.

Good piece but I feel there’s something missing. Changing the leader in previous albeit Tory episodes have allowed for a complete change of mission. Somehow the manifesto promises made by someone else can be pushed into history whilst the new leader sets the direction. Could this not give Labour /1
