Was driving home one night, I hear on the radio: "carrier" has phones/plans for people 55+ (cell phones for seniors).
Me, speeding in car, 55, have 2 phones (Android, iPhone): "Say what? Fuck off!"

I am not listing the carrier, I am sure other carriers are doing this...

The Dot-com bubble implosion began in March 2000, when the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index peaked, and continued to collapse through October 2002. When will the AI bubble implosion begin and how long will it go until?

Trump has been talking about lowering health insurance costs.

Trump first term raised health insurance rates (from ACA/ObamaCare rates)
Trump Second Term still raising health insurance rates.

If you don't pay your health insurance, ask your employer what the costs/rates were and are now.

In the next 5 years (a reasonable window for projection), given we have WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) software, robotics in packaging (for shipping) and potentially loading trucks, robotic stacks (via the robots used an Amazon, for example), how would human(ish) robots help/impact this?

I get the impression that I am missing something 'cuz I don't give a fuck about AI, what is does (or can do). I get that it could automate some tasks but so does robotics, configuration management, scripting/coding, etc. Times change and people adapt, as do business and job requirements.

So far, historically Donald J. Trump (as President of the United States) has had 3 government shutdowns (Jan 2018 - 3 days, 2018-2019 - 35 days, 2026 - 26 days and counting), so far 64 days. That is more than any U.S. President can claim as per time with government shutdowns.

If putting U.S. troops on the grounds in states (as being done currently) is a precursor for the mid term elections, and states determine voting rights (mail in v. voting sites), how would the troops impact the midterm elections in states that have mail in voting (sans politically)?

It amazes me how many people are unaware of the quantities of cameras (and other surveillance devices) there are in places (both private/businesses and public) and the actions people take that are captured on camera. The amount of electronic/digital data on people is amazing (from ~1989 onwards).

The following question comes to mind: given that ICE agents tend to wear masks to conceal their identities in public, why has nobody called in/reported a terrorist alert and description of agents in any of the cities? Worst case a SWAT team comes down on some masked individuals.

Apparently there were several 'No Kings Day' rallies throughout the nation (USA) and perhaps some in other countries. Will the Trump / MAGA response be to overload and crash Grindr (which I understand to be popular with MAGA men)?

Found on Truth Social, not sure the poster knows who was holding the office of President of the United States on that date.

I wonder if I am the only tech who doesn't give a fuck about AI (using it or aspects of what I do being augmented or replaced by AI).

Antifa is a German word, shortened form of the word antifaschistisch ("anti-fascist") and a nickname of Antifaschistische Aktion (1932–1933). The German word Antifa first appeared in 1930. The long form antifaschistisch was borrowed from the original Italian anti-Fascisti ("anti-fascists").

If both the men who hold the offices of President of the United States and Secretary of War (formerly Secretary of Defense) wear makeup (as well as the VP), does this cascade down the ranks of/for those that serve in the various branches and what will be the standard for mens makeup be?

So the following U.S. Government branches are currently controlled by the Republican party: Executive, both houses of the Legislative (House & Senate) and the Judicial Branch. So the left (which is not in power) is responsible for the shutdown (according to the majority in power of all 3 branches).
October 3, 2025 at 3:03 AM
What are the chances that we can have the current government shutdown break 35 days (the record set in the first Trump Administration, 12/22/18 - 1/25/19)?

So today, a person (Pete Hegseth) who achieved the rank of Captain (in the officer ranks of the U.S. Army) gave a speech about warrior ethos to 1-5 star generals (4+ ranks higher).

We are in strange times.

Just a thought: Trump (and his administration, largely consisting of TV personalities) are trying to move America to Fascism. It would appear that we may be heading to where Trump tries to emulate dictators, both current and past, and try to make America like North Korea, Russia, etc.
September 30, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Would Americans accept a Fascistic nation/environment established by/under the Trump administration and backed by both Congress and the Supreme Court?

Are we headed down the path of Germany 1933-45, Italy 1922 to 43?

Would American conservatives support this change if it impacted their freedoms?

So if a place like LA, Ca or Portland, Or don't have anything going on (no major incidents, crimes, etc.) this is where Trump believes we should be sending the National Guard... and he did negotiate a surrender / retreat in Afghanistan in Camp David in 2019 but now wants 1-3 air bases back...
September 28, 2025 at 5:52 PM
If the Trump Administration (backed by the Supreme Court and the majority of both houses of Congress) were to complete the move to make America a Fascist nation (similar to Germany and Italy in the 1930s to mid 1940s), would the majority just go along with it? If so, for how long?
September 26, 2025 at 10:37 PM
As the global market for agriculture movs to Blockchain, America is holding out via the Heritage Foundations Project 2025, thus increasingly cutting American farmers out of the global market (read: sales of product) so how long until the U.S. agriculture exports collapse?
September 26, 2025 at 10:24 PM
The Trump administration has signed into law the Gold Visa, so a company can drop $100K to bring someone with skills into the U.S. Could this lead to companies just establishing or using remote offices (follow the sun model) again to avoid the visa fee? This model was used for decades before.
September 25, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Apparently Trump wants to go back into Afghanistan and claim Bagram Airbase. Opinions.

What would happen to Americas food supply if immigrant labor decided to stay out of America for a year or 3, not working in the fields or meat/food processing. What would be the impact if ICE deported the laborers? How would American farms survive, how many would go under?
