We’ve also looked at the mental health impacts of increasing and more severe extreme weather events in Ireland in our paper: “Identifying impacts of extreme weather events on mental health in Ireland using the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) index and machine learning”

Can’t wait to read this! We discussed similar points in our paper, “Evaluating the GHG emissions, land use, and water use of dietary patterns in Ireland.” We also modelled 2050 scenarios vs. ‘business-as-usual.’

It’s crazy when you realize that Ireland has one of the lowest levels of forest cover in Europe (~11.6%). With most just Sitka spruce plantations, short-term economics over long-term resilience. Mixed native forests would be better for biodiversity, carbon storage, and resistance to fire or disease.
Join us next week at Maynooth University for the 2025 Irish Academy of Management annual conference ☘️
Aye, need to prioritise people and not cars. What about the logistics of Dublin (e.g., being fairly cramped and narrow with limited space)? Or the roads along the Liffey or in the city centre? Like the canals hardly have room to expand their bike paths w/o eating into private property or walk paths.
We definitely need this!
With the narrow roads in Dublin (pedestrian path, “bike lane” (aka bus lane), bus lane, and car lane), what do you propose can be done?
