Both of our collies passed on the same weekend, 1 year apart. We knew it’d be a notable date we couldn’t ignore. So we turned a sad day into a celebration of life weekend for any friends experiencing loss. To add a new wrinkle to this, Ransom was born the same weekend. Feels full circle now.
Everything comes to an end. In all the ways things could have ended, take solace in knowing you gave him the best ending you could. You were there for him.

I feel like using traditional media again lately. I guess I needed a change.

Happy, waggy coyote finds a mouse along a PNW riverside! 🐺💜🐭 #coyote #coyotes #trailcam
Huge log floating down river. Ransom kept eyeing logs as they went by. This is why we switched to the creek for swimming.
Here’s Ransom in our creek looking like an otter. We’ll have to do a little more clearing up to make this nicer for him. The main river is way too crazy during the wet season.
Everything is temporary.
There will be another.
It’s crazy home much this river changes month to month, year to year.
River got bigger than predicted. It had been around 6” all summer during the dry season. We had a prediction of just over 5’. It looks like it peaked at 8.36’
Here’s a couple pics at 6” vs 8’
49 Weeks. River was high so we took Ransom to our spring fed creek for some swimming. Definitely much colder than the summer warmed pool we had been visiting. The spring water comes out of the ground at around 40f. We also went on a ride for pizza and beer.
Pretty happy with this latest cl score. Judging from the inside and nearly clean grease tray, I’d say it was used less than 3 times. I’m going to install a quick connect on our exterior natural gas line and never need propane for grilling again. Also never owned a bbq this fancy (or heavy) before.
Hey, I like my various notebooks. At least some things get written down and don’t completely dissapear.
Bunches of King boletes were popping up around a hillside. Also found a funky looking group of oyster mushrooms on a stump I inoculated years back. Both mushrooms were just a bit beyond the point I’d like to harvest. Bugs got there first.
Ransom having a big talk with his new friend ‘Cera.
48 weeks! Getting closer to Ransom’s birthday.

It was a wet nasty weekend but Ransom got some new toys to make it less boring.
Depends. There’s 2 beds upstairs, 1 in the crate and 1 out. He prefers sleeping in the closet on a comforter. Wouldn’t use the bed when I put it in the closet. Doesn’t use the crate much anymore. I had a stack of puppy beds in the living room he outgrew but he knocked them over and squeezed into one
Haven’t tried smooshing. I do give him a light firm squeeze in like a sort of hug. A lot of animals like a little bit of pressure.

I thought about it more after watching the Temple Grandin movie where she designed cow squeezers after finding being squeezed calmed her autism anxiety.
@yotice.bsky.social bought a new toy bin for Ransom and this happened.
He was looking at pizza.
Stopped by Mod after a walk to the local dog park.
47 weeks!

We got to do a some swimming early in the day before the rain hit and the river swelled. It pretty much rained straight after that. Still got some relaxing in and stayed productive despite the rain. Ransom spent the rest of the weekend playing with his best friend Zeus.
I think he’s expressing his admiration, appreciation, and fondness for Hoghog.
‘Ooh Hoghog, hog hog hog, you’re so good, you’re so nice’
This was immediately after fixing Hoghog. He’s so happy to see his friend again. So many wags.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Ransom was excited to talk with Hoghog again after I fixed its grunter.
46 weeks.

We’re getting pretty close to Ransom’s birthday. I’m really looking forward to celebrating his birthday and the memory of our previous collies, Riley and Tay.

It was a rainy weekend so we took Ransom on a couple car rides. We did make it out for a walk and mostly avoided a thunderstorm.
Do you live by the coast? We live by a creek and our collie is always trying to drag us there.
