There's a billion of these right now, but my siblings coworker was detained by ICE (despite ICE being bullshit organization anyways AND the fact that he was here legally). Sharing and donating help support his family directly, who are left without their primary income-making family member

I'm also trying to guess which baihe they're hinting at. The Dragon seems likely, but I remember LCC mentioned something about an English license for Reading the Remnants? These are probably the top options

Re: 7seas licenses, The Sword Named No Way Out is the first Huai Shang novel they licensed which feels noteworthy because she's such a big author and her most popular works have already been snatched up by Rosmei. I'm interested in how the reception to this book will be because I feel like her

Maybe I should finally read Sayers this year. I'm interested in her work but I haven't tried it before because a lot of the praise I see is for her development of her detectives, and I'm not particularly interested in m/f detective romance. But maybe it'll be more fun than I'm expecting

Every time I talk to my family I become increasingly convinced the only reason they haven't turned into a stray cat shelter is because of my dad

When I'm looking for reviews of a book I wish I could easily filter out reviews which boil down to "I don't like the premise"

For the remainder of the year, I will be sending 100% of received personal commission funds to PIRC (Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition). This is not a decision made lightly, as I live paycheck to paycheck from my dayjob, but a min. sacrifice on my part nonetheless.

u can read about them here:

A little ranting about AI "translations" since I lurk the baihe subreddit

1) AI has a myriad of ethical problems and hazards that I think make AI translations unethical by themselves, even if they were good translations (which they also aren't). But disregarding this for the sake of argument...

It's frustrating to try and look for feminist analysis of media and then see it fail at the most basic aspects. Like, "I'm glad this butch woman isn't a lesbian because it would be stereotyping and that's bad :)"

Some people always go on about how vampires should be scary and not-sexy and bemoan romance novels for turning them sexy, as if Carmilla isn't one of the og vampires and the sexiest one of them all

What is up with the trend of new pages popping up on NovelUpdates for novels that already have pages? I've never seen this before recently.

(One of these new pages is obviously MTLed too... The Witch's Garment for 魔女霓裳.)
