Hicks, part of the return for Rafael Devers, pitched to an 8.20 ERA, 1.982 WHIP, and 51 ERA+ in 21 appearances for BOS in 2025.

#RedSox have signed catcher Matt Thaiss to a minor league deal and spring training invite, says Sox prospect Andrew Parker via Twitter.

Thaiss, 30, is a 7-season #MLB veteran (305 games) who debuted with the #Angels in 2019 and appeared in 60 games for #WhiteSox and #Rays last season.

Wouldn't have minded a reunion with Cooper Criswell, who was DFA'd by #Mets earlier this week. Instead, he'll go to #Mariners.

Criswell, 29, pitched to a 104 ERA+ in 33 #RedSox appearances (19 starts) from 2024-25.

Suárez signing comes with additional costs. He rejected a qualifying offer from #Phillies, so when deal is done, #RedSox will lose 2nd and 5th draft picks as well as international bonus dollars. PHI will get a compensatory draft pick.

New #RedSox Ranger Suárez limits hard contact. In 2025, he ranked in 98th percentile for hard-hit rate (just 2% of qualified #MLB pitchers were better).

Was also in 95th percentile for average exit velo allowed, 89th for barrel rate, 84th for expected ERA.
