Talk about The Wire, Sopranos, Game of Thrones all you want, but the greatest US television program ever made is Sesame Street. It's not even close. 50+ years of treating kids across class, ethnicity, religion not as mini-consumers...but as citizens with a stake in this world.
What did I miss here?

Wanna see something cool?

At the Grammy's in 1976, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme explained what jazz is.

The result? The crowd losing its mind. 🔥
Would love to know why you’re asking…

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
#WomensHistoryMonth: The City of Women Map is a fascinating visualization of women’s history and urban transportation. Created by Molly Roy, Rebecca Solnit, and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, the map renames subway stops after notable women with links to that area, offering an entirely new way to view #NYC.

To those who continue to assert that objectivity is not, in fact, a racialized, gendered concept, I challenge you to explain why Trump would like to ban this discussion. Clearly, the claim of colorblindness and neutrality in the teaching of history or other disciplines is important to his agenda.

Trump's January executive order about "radical indoctrination in K-12 schooling" threatens to pull funding from schools teaching "discriminatory equity ideology." Included in the definition of that ideology -- a specific ban on claiming that objectivity and neutrality are racist or sexist.

The Washington Post refused to run this ad. Sure would be a shame if it went viral.
But I don’t understand you…
I haven’t seen news about this in the media, but according to my local church, Episcopal Migration Ministries, Catholic Charities, and Lutheran Services have all been cut off from their funding. December and January funding has been withheld. Anyone know more about this?

Reading Parable of the Talents now by Octavia E Butler. Found this passage relevant to our times. Actually this entire book is relevant to our dystopian reality. #booksky #booktok
How to talk about books you haven’t read, by Pierre Bayard. Really a philosophy book about reading and books.
