The #SnakeRiver Trail travels through a remote part of #Yellowstone #NationalPark #backcountry. It mostly stays well above the river instead of trying to navigate the #canyon below.

The Heart River exits its canyon into a wide meadow and floodplain above its confluence with the Snake River in a few miles. The color here comes mostly from willows.

Before: "unrest," "fears of violence," "radicals," and so on.
After: acknowledging the demonstrations were peaceful but "Leftist," quoting participants' support for democracy, American values.

I spent my first night at East #HeartLake, with views of the south shore (left) and peninsula (center right). You take a long spur from #TrailCreekTrail to the lake. I have the place to myself.

One of the joys of #backpacking in #Yellowstone is having #hydrothermal features to yourself. These are #hotsprings of the #MiddleGroup in #HeartLakeGeyserBasin.

Trail is 3 miles (4.8km) long. I saw three people on way out, two on way back.

A group of hot springs from the #MiddleGroup of the #HeartLakeGeyserBasin in #Yellowstone.

I met five backpackers (two parties) here, so I didn't quite have the place all to myself. This spot is probably a 12-mile (19 km) day hike.
