He makes me sick! *affectionate*
the only other power kyouji could hold is money, and satomi somehow also controls that. satomi dictates what kyouji spends on him. satomi dictates the terms of what's allowed. satomi is the one who drafts messages all don't tell me to study!! i'm saving for my future!! because satomi HAS a future
god i wonder if he reads now? like. for fun?? KYOUJI DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN THAT'S NOT CENTERED ON SATOMI
probably a bronte tbh
satomi gonna switch majors to lit to deconstruct the themes of his situationship. surely some nineteenth century novelist understood his feelings

kyst can also be read as like a victim's fantasy. what if the adult who had an inappropriate relationship with you regretted it? what if you were given power in the relationship? what if you decided to continue pursuing it on your own terms? what if you were really, genuinely, loved?
saying no? stepping away? STORIES HAVE THEMES. AND ARCS. i don't know exactly how famiresu will end, but by god, how can you read this whole arc and think it should end up being about loss? like idk. stories tell you what they are. ESPECIALLY well-crafted stories. and this is well-crafted as hell
but how can you look at THIS story and think that is the ending the story wants to tell? what would that story be saying? the arc of karafami has two people grasping at control and happiness, and — what, you want the story of people figuring out their happiness to end up with just...not getting it?
to craft himself — and give him something in his life that brings him actual joy and makes him feel actual feelings, just to take it away? and i say that as someone who has consumed and deeply loved many tragic stories. tragedy has an important place in storytelling
when people DON'T want him to be happy i have to wonder like. what -- would be the point of that story? what is the point of crafting kyouji the way that he is — a man who has drifted through life his entire life, who has been entirely shaped by the whims of others because he had no motivation
holy shit that just fucked me up
it was kind of funny?? i was like, wow i'm 38 and i've gotten in tons of internet fights but i can't remember getting anon hate on tumblr before. THIS is what gets it?? this silly music posts??? like sir anything is better worth your time than being mad about this
smh it's not responsible to cut a grown man off from his antidepressant teenager cold turkey
the second one starts grumpy because someone got real ornery in my asks on anon because they didn't like the way i talked about learning music growing up???? idk it was weird
i did a whole series on the singing and music references in karaiko and it was SO much fun actually going through and listening to what everyone's singing and all the different referenced songs like satomi's recs for kyouji. like everything is SO ACCURATE and so thoughtfully chosen. wym-sensei~

yes! like the work is intensely clever but also intensely human? wym is most interested in Humans Being Weirdos. like her characters all -- weird. but in an incredibly human way. she's just so SPECIFIC. and specificity is one of the most unsung heroes of great art
it does so much with so little. all of wym's manga is a real masterclass of restraint. she respects her audience so much it drives me crazy. the sort of technical proficiency she puts on display is insane. she leaves so much between the lines
the entire karafami fandom like "kyouji we don't care about the grooming but we do care about you half-assing it. if you're gonna groom this kid you have to follow through"
