sending a video camera hurtling backwards from the earth at many times the speed of light so that eventually I can have footage of a caveman waving
modern culture doesn't usually treat the concept of learning new information with grace
I really like that the 'skinny guy on a computer, then muscly guys on a computer' meme started out as another tiresome 'this is you the bad opinion haver, and now this is me' format but quickly became about neophytes gaining institutional knowledge from more practiced people
my biggest neal stephenson subtweets vol. 4
back in the 1980s you could name your novel's protagonist something like Hector Sexual and 30 years later they would give you your own tvtropes page for it
I'm really impressed with the voice direction of the patrons being ingratiating in a way that like... feels like subtly Too Much but isn't the sort of snickering two-faced villain voice you typically get. it trusts you a little bit to understand these guys don't have people's interests at heart
people are quick to say 'oh this is all according to plan, russia's aim is to destroy the international order safeguarded by america' but:
1. what international order
2. america has plenty of its own roosting chickens to point to without having to write fanfiction about meddling foreigners
it's awesome that the lodestone strategy that's guiding the fascist resurgency is effectively the same train of thought that guides libertarians into trying to settle an island by themselves + dying of 18th-century maladies when handservants don't just materialize for them

BAH! Enough talk! My <Beam Blast> shall make short work of you!
like if it's not a product you wanted in the first place it's not really boycotting but like, what do we call it when people don't want something but then still break boycott for it
microsoft has made themselves the most easily boycottable company in existence + people will still throw themselves in the garbage for the sake of joylessly purchasing another 6/10 AAAA title from a studio that the C suite personally garrotted upon project completion
oh yeah it did that to me too. I clicked yes so every now and then it's like 'wait. are you writing in english'
kill the cop in your head*

*cop is when anyone tells me what to do or doesn't like me
earnestly before I became an adult I kind of assumed that most people's ideologies would not completely fall apart the moment they're personally asked to do or not do something. and yet that's fully 90% of the people who talk the talk on here
if you must be an apathetic douchebag then at least stop acting as though I should be handing you a trophy for Engaging With Media Correctly because you have correct opinions or whatever
lrt I've been constantly disappointed on this point by people who just want their little treats + who also constantly sound off about what Good People they are in completely imaginary and purposeless ways. yeah man your consumption is so pure I love your oblivion remaster lizard blorbo with anxiety

If "ending the war" was the only objective then BDS wouldn't have existed for decades. Israeli apartheid is still in full force. Gaza is in ruins. The IDF continues to shoot and bomb innocents.

We can't stop you from doing anything. But you are NOT entitled to 0 judgment when you look the other way
I donno this seems pretty unreasonable. Fine to make your own choices, but now that the objective of the boycotts, ending the war, has been achieved, others are entitled to go back to xbox, disney+ etc. without any judgment.

It worked! you should celebrate that instead of trying to keep it going

Say this prayer before bed every night.
absent other ideological projects, a nazi is still a bloke who can't make friends to save his own life
consider: the proliferation of nazi shit is the end goal of billionaire domination of social media, and is in fact solely possible through billionaire interference as any site with a functioning standard of behaviour filters out nazis as a matter of course

"Sudan feels complicated to people in a way that Palestine used to feel complicated to people." - @bsonblast.bsky.social

This is a really good, honest chat about the frustrations of organizing for Sudan. I respect bsonblast for straight up saying "I'm angry and tired."
