Haha I'm not looking forward to the Rogue Mega battles though, I think I am going to suck at those since they're kinda like the Noble Pokemon fights. That's enough game for tonight tho.
(I mean that the Wild Areas in ZA are like this, in contrast with Arceus' wide open spaces)
Arceus has its strengths of course. The Wild Areas can feel cramped at times and it tends to bottleneck the pokemon so it's even harder to move around and catch stuff when there's a billion in your face at once. But the added challenge and utter chaos is kinda fun too?
You can also have your pokemon walk around inside a lot of buildings, and the adorable additions of having coffee with them or sitting with them at a bench is so lovely. It just finally feels like you get to BE with your pokemon and they look good and their pathfinding is generally really good
So moving and battling with your pokemon feels very exciting and fun and while it lacks the strategy of turn-based during battles, it also gives a new feeling of what it might really feel like to move with your pokemon during battles IRL. And that's cool. Altho sometimes stressful lol
They will teleport if you ever outpace them, and also outpacing them in general is difficult because all the follow pokemon move way quicker. They keep pace! And it finally feels good to move and travel with your pokemon!! And it looks good!
Scarlet/Violet's follow pokemon was . . . imperfect and as such, EXTREMELY frustrating to me. You outpaced your pokemon so very fast and they just returned to their ball. It made me so mad. But thankfully they do the right thing in this game. They don't return to the ball.
action game. But for what it IS, it's fun.
I think this game achieves something no other pokemon game has really done so far, which is True And Proper Follow Pokemon.
And obviously exploring full areas in nature is more appealing to me, as a nature-oriented person, but I've enjoyed exploring the city too. And all the parkor stuff.
Pokemon battling of course is nowhere NEAR as strategy-oriented in this game. That had to be sacrified to make it more of an

As to the game overall so far, I've been enjoying it. It feels like an evolution of Legends Arceus. PLA crawled so this could run. And boy did PLA crawl with the amount of survey shit we had to do. Loved the nature in PLA but man, not the gameplay.
So we know Volo has been to Future Lumiose recently. He is goddamn lurking around in Pokemon Fr*nce somewhere and I just love that we get to imagine that
and he should not-- this is not his game, this is about different people and he'd draw focus from that-- part of me still wanted him to, And I am glad for the easter egg because it's like, we know he IS around. Somewhere. That Hisui exhibit is RECENTLY opened.
(Damn I really need to catch up on the anime)
Anyway, back to Volo because I'm a hypocrite who insults characters for being obsessed with people and then turn around to talk about my obsessions
A lot of people wanted him to show up in this game bc it would have been funny, and while he has not,
Like hey man I get it, gap moe, teehee, I do indeed like Miles Edgeworth
But I dunno man, you can do better Naveen. Like . . . Nidothing. She's so much cooler
Also we have learned this Canary person is Iono 2.0, which is unfortunate because that means I will probably hate her just as much
Naveen, I was starting to build a lot of respect for him, but that all went bye bye lol
I wasn't exactly looking forward to grinding the entire alphabet, but I dunno man the way they did it makes it feel so very unearned. Pfft.
Ok so I feel like jumping the queue is massively cheating. Like it's their contest, they can break their own rules, but dude. It's cheaty and it shows depressingly that as long as you know the right person, you can get a leg up
Apparently I am collecting Alphas with only the worst natures :-/
It somewhat resembles the gems in Arceus' . . . uh . . . 'arc.' So maybe it's from that.
seeing as they claim this outfit is garb worn by the arceus religion of yore
I wonder what their significance was for the tear-drop shaped necklace
(note: you still are free to tell him it looks stupid though)
possibly lived to see his people become mostly extinct first-hand, but that seems unlikely given his ardent study of history. So I guess he was such a history nerd he was wearing the ancient garb as he best guessed it looked like
So, confirmation Volo DOES live as long as he claims.
Also we laughed at his outfit in Legends Arceus but the museum says this outfit was ceremonial garb that Volo's people wore, so like . . . it wasn't just Volo being a loser and cosplaying Arceus. Now that we know he's genuinely long-lived, he
seriously!! that would have been good.
Oh, I reached the museum. That's what I got spoiled to, before. But yeah, the lil nod to Volo was a nice easter egg. (screenie stolen from someone else bc too lazy to grab my switch)
The follow-up dialogue to this textbox was a comment that Volo looked at Laventon's sketches a long time w/ nostalgia
