Mental health is not a privilege—it’s a human right. Healing requires justice, land restoration, and respect for treaties. Together, let’s unmask mental health, uplift Indigenous voices, and build systems of care rooted in compassion, culture, and justice.

We believe healing is cultural, relational, and collective. Indigenous knowledge reminds us that strength grows from connection: to land and ancestors. The wildfires across Canada have displaced thousands, devastating Indigenous homelands. These are mental health emergencies.

The TRC’s 94 Calls to Action remains a roadmap for truth, accountability, and healing. Today’s commemoration is a direct response to Call to Action #80, which established a statutory day of remembrance.

Residential schools operated in Canada between 1867 and 1996, with more than 140 institutions federally run. The resilience of Survivors led to the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, and the creation of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

3/5
This day recognizes the harm caused by the residential school system and affirms our shared commitment to reconciliation, anti-racism, Treaty education, and ensuring that Every Child Matters.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | Orange Shirt Day 🧡

Today, September 30, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
📣 Stay tuned for an upcoming virtual knowledge-sharing event this fall, where Angie and the team will share these new resources with communities and healthcare providers across Canada.
📬 You’ll also find Angie’s full spotlight feature in the WCHC Hub newsletter. Join WCHC’S mailing list today.

🌿 Treaty 4 – 151 Years 🌿

✨ On the week of September 15, the Treaty 4 Gathering offers space to learn, connect, and reflect on:
🔹 How the treaty came to be
🔹 What it represents
🔹 Its ongoing impact on the lives, cultures, and communities of all who live, work, learn, and grow on these lands.
On this day, we honour those we’ve lost, hold space for those who grieve, and stand with those continuing to fight for change. Let us amplify Indigenous-led initiatives and voices in the fight against stigma and for equitable healthcare.

#InternationalOverdoseAwarenessDay #IndigenousHealth

In Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service (SCS) reports that 210 people have died from overdose since January 2025. These are not just numbers — they represent family members, friends, and neighbours, each deeply missed.

4/5
The overdose crisis has disproportionately affected Indigenous peoples due to legacies of colonization, systemic discrimination, and the intergenerational trauma of residential schools. This is a call to action for culturally safe harm reduction supports that honour Indigenous ways of healing.
